Irish Wheelchair Basketball Cup Finals set to conclude season

26th May 2017

The IWA-Sport Irish Wheelchair Basketball season concludes this weekend at the fantastic facilities of the National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown.

Three perpetual cups will be up for grabs for all 10 teams competing and the seedings are based on the placing of the teams in the final league table which concluded two weekends ago.

The Gerard Larkin Cup will see the teams who placed 9th and 10th compete, those being Shannonside Stealers from Athlone and Titans Galway. Both teams will be evenly matched and a result is hard to predict.

The Greene/Walsh Cup will be played for by the teams who finished from 5th to 8th in the league. Holders Ballybrack Bulls will again fancy their chances, but like the previous final there will be little between the teams.

The marquee cup final, the Paddy Byrne Cup, sees the top 4 teams in the league go head to head.

NI Knights will be aiming for a clean sweep of silverware in 2017, having won the league two weeks ago and the National Cup in January.

Holders Limerick Scorpions will be competitive and Clonaslee have also finished the season strongly, but Killester will be Knights biggest threat.

It promises to be a great day of Cup finals.
