Irish team depart for European Paralympic Youth Games

An IWA-Sport team of 11 athletes and support staff is set to compete at the European Paralympic Youth Games in Finland.

Pajulahti Olympic and Paralympic Training Center will welcome young Para Athletes from the 25-30 June 2016 in Finland between the ages of 13-23 years to compete in eight different para sports including, Athletics, Swimming , Judo, Boccia, Goalball, Wheelchair Basketball and Table Tennis.

The Irish team will comprise of a 10 player Wheelchair Basketball squad and one Athletics athlete. This will be the first time an U23 Wheelchair Basketball team has competed internationally.

  • Conor Coughlan Wheelchair Basketball
  • Jack Shannon Cole Wheelchair Basketball
  • Sean McCullagh Wheelchair Basketball
  • Cathal Ryan  Athletics

Coaching staff – Con Coughlan, Alan Dineen and Lucia Ryan.

The action will begin on Friday where the Wheelchair Basketball team will play the hosts Finland at 6pm local time.
